In an unprecedented move aimed at breaking the siege imposed on Palestinians,
Activists from 32 countries are planning to enter Gaza on foot in a march that will depart from Egypt on June 12.
The activists will arrive in Cairo, then head to the city of El-Arish, then walk to the Rafah crossing. They will organize rallies and protests until June 20, and will set up protest tents near the crossing.
The organizers are currently seeking official approval from the Egyptian authorities to reach the Gaza Strip, save the population from famine, and bring in food, medical aid, and essential supplies.
Quoting Saif Abu Kishk (head of the International Coalition Against the Israeli Occupation), he said:
The activists come from various countries, most of them from Western countries, not just Arab and Muslim communities. The number of people interested in participating has so far exceeded 10,000.
We realize that the journey through the desert is difficult, but the people of Gaza have been living without food, medicine, or water for more than 20 years, so there is no problem in enduring the difficult conditions to support them.
